Only a hour flight away from Las Vegas we visit frequently, sometimes once a month. I'll be sharing our trip reports, tips on making the most of your stay in Vegas, reviews of restaurants and shows we have seen, along with my thoughts related to our favorite place to get away from it all.

Friends just want to have fun, Vegas Shore Style! Part two of a two part seven night trip.

This is part 2 and the end of my July 2013,  seven night trip report. If you haven't read the first part please go to this link:

Today is Sunday and I've checked out of Cosmopolitan and into the Wynn after having very little sleep which was my fault since I didn't have any nightclub noise. Check in was smooth and my wonderful host Edward arranged for a panoramic room, which is Wynn speak for high floor with a great view of the strip. I also had a view of the Wynn Lake of Dreams. Better yet since Tryst would not be open during my three night stay, no nightclub noise! After quickly unpacking I scurried to the Country Club restaurant where once again I would be enjoying the jazz brunch with friends.
Our group had their usual large tables in the back of the restaurant with a view of the Wynn golf course.
Several ladies in my group ordered the unlimited Veuve Clicquot champagne which costs a extra $50. I ordered iced tea because after my sleepless night I was afraid having a drink would knock me out.
Anyone who has been reading this blog has seen food porn like the cheese board above from the Jazz Brunch before, along with the rest of the buffet set up. However, I was shocked and disappointed that this visit the jumbo shrimp had their shells still on. They were split which made the shell easy enough to remove but when I go to a high end brunch the last thing I want to do is get my hands icky from shelling shrimp! I'm not sure if the decision to leave the shells on is a ploy to get people to take and eat less of them or what, but they need to go back to serving them without the shell!
The jazz trio is still behind the cooking station. They used to be to the side but I guess they wanted to put in more tables in that section.
Other then my issue with the shrimp not being completely shelled the brunch is still fabulous!

Friends just want to have fun, Vegas Shore Style! Part one of a two part seven night trip.

This started out to be my usual July trip around my birthday for a few nights. Then I discovered that some of my friends had trips planned around this time and I gradually added more nights to be with them until I ended up with a seven night trip! It almost ended up being a ten night trip but I was afraid my son and husband might think I moved out. ;) Due to the length of this trip the report will be divided up into part one which will cover my stay at THEHotel at Mandalay Bay for three nights and then my one night at Cosmopolitan. Part two of my trip report will cover my three night stay at Wynn.
My flight out of San Jose to Las Vegas was on time and smooth. Alphonso my limo driver from THEHotel was waiting for me at baggage claim and it didn't take long for my baggage to arrive. Alphonso tunneled me but made up for it by telling me a couple interesting stories of working backstage at the Stardust 35 years ago!
Checked in at the VIP desk and decided to wait briefly for a room so I could have a strip view on a high floor. Later in my stay I would wish I had taken the lower floor suite.
Angela, one of my followers on Twitter wanted photos of my room so here you go.
Everyone should keep in mind that THEHotel will be going under a lot of renovations the end of this year so once the Delano branding takes over I'm sure these suites will be decorated quite differently.
Above is my view from the 35th floor. Sorry for some reason I can't find photos of the bath  or bedroom, guess I forgot to take them. :(
I quickly unpacked and headed downstairs where I got my free play put on my card and it was off to the slots.
Last stay the Mandalay Bay Casino killed me with the exception of a bit of luck on the Lord of the Rings slot so I headed there first and was quite happy to start out with a hit of $950.50 on a Frodo bonus!
Once LOTR seemed to go cold I had some brief luck on the original Wizard of Oz.
I was happy that Mandalay Bay had installed the new Twilight Zone slots since my last visit and while I wasn't as lucky there on them as I was on the June trip at Palazzo it gave me some fun bonuses.

Girl's Just Want To Have Fun or Liz's June Birthday Party in Vegas!

It's June 23rd, so it's time to head out for what is becoming my annual Liz's Birthday Las Vegas Trip!

This year I was thrilled to have Roz with me on my Southwest flight. Where's our husbands? Home taking care of business, it was time for the girl's to have fun! Alright, I know lately it seems like it's always my time to have fun, but I promise you that before I leave on what are usually short little trips my family has lots of home cooked food in the fridge and they are looking forward to a break in my nagging err suggestions.
Time went fast at the airport with a friend to chat with and our Southwest flight was uneventful. Roz and I arrived in Vegas around noon and as always Palazzo had sent a limo for me. Due to being busy this weekend with the EDC (Electric Daisy Carnival) we were with a driver and limo contracted out to Venetian/Palazzo. This worked out in our favor since Roz was staying at Wynn and our driver on learning this offered to drop her off at Wynn first! During our drive to Wynn we were entertained by our driver with stories of the crazy goings on with the EDC group running around the casinos and streets.

After dropping Roz off at Wynn and as we were pulling up at Palazzo I got a text from T asking me if I had time to meet real quick before their massage appointment at Canyon Ranch Spa and I replied sure and told them I was checking in and would meet them at the VIP check in area. Check in was super fast so I exit the VIP lounge area and I'm looking around for T when I run into Top Dollar Player from the Slot Fanatics forum! What a sweetheart and it was so great to meet him. Well to make a long story shorter and for me to look less like the ditz I was that day (blaming that on only 2 hours of sleep the night before) T was Top Dollar Player and he was the one that was texting me.  I had confused him with one of my friends who also goes by the nickname of T and who was in town and while I'm running around looking for that friend while talking to him I make him late for his spa appointment before figuring out later from the texts sent back and forth that I had been talking to him all the time!
After leaving T and going to my suite and unpacking, instead of taking the nap that I obviously needed I run down to the casino to get my slot fix. Practically the first slot I see is a new favorite of mine the 3d Twilight Zone and I have some middling bonuses and hits from it.
After taking a quick look around at Palazzo and getting a bit upset that a lot of slots had been removed again to make way for those silly poker tables I head out to Venetian. Rumor had it that Willy Wonka was getting installed this week in some casinos and I felt like I had scored when I found it right away when walking into the Venetian Casino.
There were some employees around WW admiring the graphics and sounds who told me it had just been installed the night before. One suit told me he was planning on playing it soon but of course at another casino since they aren't allowed to play at their own.
